Keep a garden journal
A garden journal is easier to keep when each entry answers a few simple questions: which bed or plant, what happened, and when? Use one entry per observation or task, then add a harvest amount when it applies.
Make it your own
On the web, sign in and choose New Dattle → Build manually. Web Dattles use Shared access; you can start with just yourself and invite people later. For a Private Dattle stored on your device, use the mobile app.
Set up one garden journal
In New Dattle, choose Build manually, name it Garden journal, and add the fields below. Keep the first version short enough to fill in while you are outside.
Record an observation or task
Choose Add data. Enter the bed or plant and the date, then describe the activity. A planting or watering entry can leave Harvest amount blank.
Review one bed at a time
Search for the bed name to find its entries. Use Card view for photos and notes, or Sheet view to compare records. Keep the unit the same when comparing harvest amounts.
SUGGESTED FIELDS
Start with a useful structure
Use these names and types as a starting point. Adjust them to fit what you actually want to record.

|---|---|---|
| Bed or plant | Text | Use the same name each time, such as Bed A / snap peas. |
| Date | Date | Record when the observation or task happened. |
| Activity | Text | Planting, watering, observing, or harvesting. |
| Notes | Text | Describe what you saw or did. |
| Harvest amount | Number | Fill this in for harvest entries; leave it blank otherwise. |
| Unit | Text | Keep quantities comparable: grams, kilograms, or count. |
| Photo | Image | Add an optional photo of the same plant or bed. |
