Terms of Use

1. Who we are and what these Terms cover

Dattle is operated by Accumulus Corporation, an Oregon corporation, United States ("Accumulus," "we," "us"). These Terms cover your use of Dattle's mobile and web applications and related services. Contact us at support@dattle.com, or Dattle Administration, Accumulus Corporation, 8938 NW Ryan Street, Portland, OR 97229, United States.

Dattle helps you collect, organize and work with information, individually or with others. Features vary by platform, release and plan. A supported language or regional format does not by itself mean that every feature or purchase is available in that country.

You must be at least 18 and meet any higher age of majority required where you live. If you use Dattle for an organization, you must have authority to act for it. These Terms do not authorize collecting information about others without an appropriate legal basis, required notices and any necessary permission.

The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Accepting these Terms does not replace any separate privacy choice or consent required by law.

2. Accounts and permitted use

Keep account information accurate, protect your credentials and tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized access. Subject to applicable law, you are responsible for your actions and those of people you authorize to use your account, but not automatically for incidents outside your control.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use Dattle for your personal or internal business purposes and to commercialize collections within the permissions in section 4 while you comply with these Terms. Dattle and its underlying technology remain ours or our licensors'. Restrictions on copying, modification, reverse engineering, redistribution or resale of the application apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not restrict rights granted under applicable open-source licenses.

Do not misuse Dattle, bypass access controls, interfere with others, introduce malware, infringe rights, harvest other users' information, or access another person's Private Dattles. Do not use unauthorized automated access that compromises security or the service. Obtain any permissions necessary to collect or share a person's image, voice, location or other information.

Do not upload to Shared Dattles personal medical or health records, financial account or payment-card details, government identifiers, sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or criminal records, or personal information about children or other people who are not legally eligible to use Dattle. Pornographic or sexually explicit content is prohibited. Private storage is not a certification that Dattle is suitable for regulated or sensitive data. These restrictions apply alongside applicable law.

3. Private and Shared Dattles

Private Dattles are stored locally and are not synced as collections to Dattle's cloud. Explicit online actions can send selected information outside the device: for example an AI request, optional map lookup, saving a custom template to your account, or an export/share action. The Privacy Policy explains these boundaries and platform backups. We cannot recover a lost device's Private Dattles or remotely erase copies you control elsewhere.

Shared Dattles are stored in the cloud. Access depends on the Collection Owner's settings and the member's role. Offline pending changes may be retained securely on the device and retried; a pending change is not confirmation that the server has saved it. Review the sync status before relying on availability to other members.

A Collection Owner can manage membership, settings, transfer, archive and deletion using the available controls. Joining a Shared Dattle means that its administrative owner can change through a transfer or the succession process below. That does not transfer copyright in your contribution or waive your privacy rights.

4. Content ownership and licenses

4.1 Your content remains yours

You retain the rights you hold in your contributions. Being a Collection Owner gives you administrative control and any rights in the original collection work you create or acquire; it does not transfer another contributor's copyright or create exclusive ownership of facts. You may grant only rights you hold or are authorized to license.

4.2 A direct license to the Collection Owner

For contributions covered by section 4.3, you grant the Collection Owner a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, reproduce, organize, verify, adapt, combine, distribute and commercially license your contributions as part of the collection, including revisions, extracts and derived datasets. The owner may sublicense these uses to Dattle and customers, and offer the complete collection when all included material has the necessary permissions.

This license is royalty-free unless you and the owner separately agree to compensation, which remains the owner’s responsibility. You can continue using and licensing your own contributions. The license does not transfer copyright or authorize selling your contribution as an unrelated standalone work. An assignment, exclusive license, AI-training use or other use beyond this scope requires the necessary additional authorization. Source-license conditions, attribution requirements, confidentiality, privacy and mandatory rights still apply.

A successor Collection Owner receives the same license, limits and obligations. Owners must keep evidence of permissions for contributed, imported and third-party material. This license is not consent to sell personal information and does not override the Privacy Policy or privacy rights.

4.3 One license model for all Shared Dattles

By accepting these Terms, you grant the section 4.2 license for your existing and future contributions to any Shared Dattle, within the rights you hold or may license. The grant starts when these Terms become effective and you accept them, whichever is later. It does not authorize earlier uses retroactively.

An owner cannot grant another contributor's rights without authorization and must establish the necessary rights before commercial licensing. Silence, continued use or an app update alone is not acceptance. No separate contribution agreement is required for this license.

This license does not change stored entries, administrative ownership, membership, access controls or deletion rules. It covers Private content only when you intentionally contribute it to a Shared Dattle.

4.4 Dattle's service permission and sharing

You give Accumulus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, reproduce, transmit and process content as reasonably necessary to provide the features you use, operate and secure Dattle, and carry out your sharing instructions. This covers service-provider processing and AI processing you request. It does not authorize us to sell unlisted collections, publish your content in marketing or train a general-purpose AI model on it. Authorized members may use content through the available features within their access and the permissions above.

An unlisted template link shares a separate setup snapshot, potentially including an approved banner, with anyone holding the link until revocation. It does not expose source entries or members; revocation cannot retrieve independent copies. Poll response/results links have separate scopes. QR/NFC tags can be read by nearby devices: never include passwords, tokens or secrets. Opening a tag does not bypass access controls.

4.5 Leaving, role changes and deletion

Leaving a Dattle, removal from it or a change to Viewer does not by itself revoke a valid license already granted or delete contributions. Your current role and the available controls determine whether you can edit or delete an entry. This license adds no new deletion restriction or permission.

Account deletion still removes attributable contributions, including those in Dattles previously left, as described in section 7. The license gives Dattle no exception to that deletion commitment and does not authorize Dattle to retain deleted content in licensed copies or snapshots. For copies lawfully received before removal, licenses may continue within their agreed scope, subject to applicable termination, erasure and other mandatory rights. Dattle cannot promise to recall every exported copy. Hosted content, future delivery and any required removal must follow the deletion commitments and applicable law.

5. AI, location and sensor features

AI is optional. When you request it, Dattle sends the selected inputs or disclosed analysis scope to the provider identified in the Privacy Policy. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or inappropriate; review it before using or sharing it. You remain responsible for decisions you make with it. AI output is not professional advice or a guarantee of a scientific finding.

Location, address labels and sensor readings are estimates affected by device, permissions, calibration, environment and connectivity. Verify readings where needed. One-time Location and Sensor capture does not require Premium; Station Mode does.

Station Mode samples supported sensors only while its screen remains open in the foreground. Screen locking, suspension, power loss or other interruption can stop it or cause missed intervals. Missed intervals are not backfilled. It is not a guaranteed continuous-monitoring service.

Do not rely on Dattle as an emergency, safety-critical, navigation, medical diagnostic, health-monitoring, calibrated measurement or legal-compliance system. Use it only when physically safe. These practical limits do not remove non-excludable legal rights or our responsibility where applicable law imposes it.

6. Premium, subscriptions and coins

Optional subscriptions and coin packs are purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The purchase screen identifies the price, currency, billing period, benefits and renewal terms before you confirm. Subscription billing renews as described in the purchasing store unless you cancel through that store's controls.

Manage your subscription in Dattle Settings where available, or use Apple's subscription instructions or Google Play's subscription instructions. Uninstalling Dattle or deleting your Dattle account does not itself cancel store billing.

Premium may include the recurring AI coin allowance displayed at purchase. Included coins reset each monthly allowance period and unused included coins do not roll over. Separately purchased coin-pack coins do not expire while your Dattle account remains active, subject to applicable law. Restoring a qualifying store purchase restores its associated entitlement after store verification; it is not a promise that consumed coin-pack balances can be recreated.

Contact support@dattle.com for Dattle service or entitlement problems. The purchasing store also provides purchase and refund assistance. Store procedures do not remove statutory rights against the party responsible under applicable law. Cancellation of future renewals, withdrawal from a purchase and a remedy for a defective service are different rights. Starting to use a feature does not by itself waive a withdrawal right where the law requires additional steps.

Deleting your account can remove access to its entitlements and unused balances. Contact support if you need help understanding the effect or seeking an applicable refund; asking for help is not a condition of account deletion. Nothing here imposes forfeiture of a balance or remedy contrary to law.

7. Deletion, archive, transfer and succession

You can request account deletion in Settings or through our support deletion route. Verification protects against unauthorized deletion. Deletion is permanent; save information you need first. In-app deletion clears Private Dattles on the device where it is performed. Support cannot remotely erase Private Dattles on your other devices, exports or backups.

Account deletion removes the Dattle sign-in account and profile, membership, and entries, comments and uploaded media attributable to that account, including contributions in Shared Dattles previously left. Other members' contributions may continue. An empty placeholder may preserve another member's reply. Retained history, technical records and provider records are addressed in the Privacy Policy. Deleting a Dattle account does not delete the underlying Apple or Google account.

Before deleting your account, Shared Dattles you own with other members must be transferred or paused using the available controls. You may choose a current member as successor or use the automatic selection of the longest-tenured Editor, or Contributor if there is no Editor. Transfer removes your membership/access and may trigger a notice to the new owner.

A pause hides the Dattle, invalidates join codes and pending invites, and allows takeover for 30 days. While Editors remain, only an Editor can take over; otherwise a Contributor can. Viewers cannot take over. Takeover restores the Dattle with its new owner, not the former owner's membership. If unclaimed after 30 days, the paused Dattle is permanently deleted.

A Collection Owner can separately archive a Shared Dattle, then permanently delete it from Archived in Settings. Archive hides it from members. Unless restored or deleted sooner, an archived Dattle is permanently deleted after 30 days. Archive is distinct from the succession pause.

8. Service changes, restrictions and ending access

We may change the service or these Terms for stated security, legal or service-improvement reasons. For material changes, we will explain what changes and when, and provide the notice, choices and remedies required by law. Continued use does not replace agreement where required. Changes will not remove mandatory rights already acquired.

We may restrict or end access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, unlawful activity, a security threat or a legal requirement. Where lawful and reasonably practicable, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve or challenge the issue through support. Immediate action may be necessary for urgent security or legal reasons. We will respect applicable notice, refund and data-access rights. Ending access does not automatically cancel store billing.

9. Consumer rights and responsibility

These Terms, including the practical limits above, do not exclude or restrict mandatory rights or liability. Depending on applicable law, you may have digital-content or service guarantees, protection against unfair terms, and remedies such as correction, replacement, a price reduction, cancellation or a refund.

10. Complaints, disputes and regional protections

Contact support@dattle.com if something goes wrong. This does not prevent you from using a court, regulator or complaints process available to you, or extend a statutory deadline. These Terms do not require consumers to arbitrate disputes.

Oregon law applies only where it does not deprive consumers of mandatory protections where they habitually reside. Those protections include applicable language rights, consumer guarantees, digital-service and purchase-withdrawal rights, cancellation rights, and access to courts and remedies. Nothing here limits protections under applicable national, state, provincial or local law.

11. Other terms and notices

If a provision is unenforceable, the rest continues only to the extent lawful; an invalid provision is not rewritten to remove mandatory rights. These Terms do not override mandatory pre-contract information or specific commitments forming part of your purchase. Applicable store terms and any expressly agreed business agreement must be considered together, without removing mandatory consumer protections.

Before a replacement version takes effect, we will identify its effective date and provide any notice required by applicable law.

Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible and how to contact us

Accumulus Corporation, an Oregon corporation, operates Dattle. For questions, requests or complaints, contact support@dattle.com or Dattle Administration, Accumulus Corporation, 8938 NW Ryan Street, Portland, OR 97229, United States.

This notice covers Dattle's mobile and web applications, the dattle.com website and related account/support services. Other services you choose, including app stores and export destinations, also have their own privacy notices.

Accumulus determines the purposes of account administration, security, support and its own service operations. Where an organization uses Dattle to collect information about you, that organization may separately determine the purpose of its collection. Contact the organization about that use; you may also contact us for help identifying the appropriate route.

2. Information and sources

We receive information from you, authorized members or organizers, and sign-in/payment providers. We also receive technical information generated when the services operate.

A template catalog request can use a Firebase installation identifier and technical request information for rollout/security; it does not include your rows, media, member lists or saved custom-template content. Display-language and region preferences do not establish your legal residence or citizenship.

3. Private data, local storage and explicit sharing

Private Dattles stay in local app storage and are not synced as collections to our cloud. Private structured records use authenticated application-layer encryption with a key in device secure storage. The app sandbox and applicable platform file protection protect Private media. This does not mean that Dattle independently encrypts every media file or that Shared data is end-to-end encrypted.

Selected content leaves the device when you explicitly use an online or sharing feature: AI processing, an optional map/place lookup, saving a custom template, or an export you choose. A privately saved custom template syncs its setup with your account, not its rows, members or attached media. An unlisted public template link is a separate snapshot of approved setup and an optional banner; anyone with the link can view it until revocation. It excludes entries, members, invitations, comments, activity, AI results, assignments, response credentials and row media.

Pending Shared operations can remain encrypted locally, with selected attachments in protected app storage, until sync or discard. Quick Capture can store up to two destination Dattle identifiers in encrypted local settings. The Android widget exposes no Dattle title or content, and opening it rechecks access.

QR/NFC tag URLs include the Dattle ID, destination-field ID and chosen identifier value. Nearby readers can read them; they must not contain secrets. Exported files and copies shared with another person or destination are controlled outside Dattle. Revoking a link cannot retrieve a copy already saved by someone else.

4. Location, sensors and device permissions

Location is captured with while-in-use permission when requested; if permission is already granted, a new Location field can capture while its entry form is open. Coordinates, accuracy, time, capture method and an optional selected place/address label become User Content when saved. Connected optional map/address lookup can send selected coordinates to Apple Maps or Google Maps. Failure of the lookup does not prevent saving coordinates. Location fields are not sent to AI without separate explicit approval.

A Sensor field can use a camera to scan a code, a microphone for an indicative sound level, or supported motion, compass, barometer, step-count and ambient-light sensors. Sound-level capture does not retain its temporary recording. Unsupported external readings can be entered/imported manually. Premium Station Mode repeatedly samples supported non-interactive sensors only while its screen remains open in the foreground; a chosen template row can supply other values to each new row. Dattle does not request background location or use sensor readings for advertising/tracking.

You can manage operating-system camera, microphone, location and notification permissions. Turning off a permission can disable the related feature. A device permission does not by itself establish every consent or legal basis required for processing or information about other people.

5. AI processing

Dattle currently uses xAI (Grok), including speech-to-text. When you request an AI feature, selected text, images, audio/transcripts or the disclosed insight scope passes through our service to xAI. This also applies to Private Dattles: selected content leaves your device when you explicitly request AI processing.

Insight requests can use summary metrics or, when deeper analysis is explicitly selected, values from up to 100 selected entries. Deeper analysis excludes photos, audio, generated outputs, comments, member details and row/field identifiers; only a Shared Dattle's Owner or Editor may request it. Before sending entry values for deeper Insights analysis, Dattle checks the provider's Zero Data Retention status. The app displays the applicable coin cost.

Generated results you save become part of your Dattle under its chosen storage/access settings. Technical provider-operation records can remain without the submitted content. Dattle is not intended to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about people; do not use generated output as an unreviewed basis for such decisions.

6. Analytics, diagnostics, cookies and essential technologies

Native mobile apps: crash reporting starts enabled on new installations and can be turned off during onboarding or in Settings without losing features. Usage analytics starts off and is enabled only if you select it separately. Existing saved choices are preserved. Your choices, their version and latest update time are stored for this installation. Accepting the Terms does not authorize usage analytics.

When you allow analytics, Google Firebase processes app interaction and technical information, including an installation identifier. Custom events omit Dattle titles, row contents and live route identifiers.

When crash reporting is enabled, Google Firebase processes crash diagnostics and app/device information, including a diagnostic installation identifier. Dattle does not attach account identifiers or User Content to its custom diagnostic reports. Crash diagnostics can be held locally while automatic sending is disabled.

Turning usage analytics off stops future app-generated analytics events. Turning crash reporting off stops Dattle’s custom reports immediately; restart the app to apply the change fully to automatic crash reporting. We request deletion of unsent crash reports when reporting is disabled. This does not recall reports already sent or erase provider-held data immediately.

Dattle web app: content-free custom analytics events are collected only after you choose “Allow analytics.” Change that choice in Settings. The app suppresses automatic page views and supplies fixed page metadata so live Dattle URLs, titles and referrers are not used in those parameters. Turning web analytics off clears the app’s analytics cookies. If Analytics has been active, the app also reloads. Your authentication storage stays intact. Essential browser storage supports authentication, security and installation. Sign-in normally lasts for the current browser session; “Keep me signed in on this device” retains authentication until sign-out, clearing site data or its other removal. Clearing browser storage does not delete cloud Shared Dattles. App Check uses reCAPTCHA Enterprise browser/device/security signals for abuse prevention, not advertising.

dattle.com marketing website: optional Google Analytics loads only after its separate analytics choice is allowed. It can measure page views, campaign attribution and outbound clicks to the web app and stores, with technical device/browser and approximate region information. Website analytics cookies have a lifetime of up to 180 days. Website code limits reported URLs and approved campaign parameters and disables advertising personalization and Google Signals. Change the choice through Cookie settings/Analytics choices in the footer; withdrawal removes the site's analytics cookies and reloads the page. The website choice does not control native app telemetry or the web app's separate choice. Cookie lifetime is not the same as server-side analytics retention. The current shared Analytics property is configured for 2-month event-data and 14-month user-data retention, with user retention reset by new activity. These controls do not determine retention of all aggregated standard reports.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The current release does not display third-party ads. Before introducing advertising or advertising measurement, we will provide any required notices and obtain any required consent.

7. Why we process information and applicable legal bases

We use information to provide requested features and access, administer purchases, send service notices, respond to support, protect against abuse, maintain reliability and meet legal obligations. Optional analytics has the separate purposes and controls described above. We do not treat a Shared collection or agreement to the Terms as permission for unrestricted use of others' data.

If information is necessary to provide a requested feature and you do not supply it, we may not be able to provide that feature. Optional permissions and optional analytics are distinguished above. Withdrawing consent, where processing is based on consent, does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

8. Recipients and international processing

Recipients depend on the feature you use:

• Authorized Shared members, invitees and people with an enabled public/unlisted link receive only the information exposed by that feature and permissions. Owners/Editors can have access to revision history. Other members can retain permitted exports outside Dattle.
• Google/Firebase provides authentication, hosting, database, object storage, functions, security checks and the described analytics/diagnostics; xAI provides requested AI processing.
• Apple/Google stores and RevenueCat process purchase/entitlement information. Expo and platform notification services deliver push messages. Resend delivers support, invitation and lifecycle email. Apple Maps/Google Maps process optional map/place/address lookups.
• A destination you select receives exported/shared files. We may disclose information where legally required or necessary and lawful to protect rights, security or address misuse.

Dattle's services can involve processing in the United States and other countries where these providers operate. Selecting French, German or another region does not move your data into that jurisdiction. Foreign laws and authority access may differ from those at home.

9. Retention, deletion and copies

Retention depends on the record and feature, rather than a single period for all data.

Account deletion removes credentials/profile, membership and attributable Shared entries, comments and uploaded media, including contributions in collections previously left. A content-free placeholder may preserve another member's reply. Identifying activity/revision metadata is changed to “Former member” and assignment identifiers removed. Remaining authorized history can persist until its applicable expiry. Replacing a display name is not a guarantee of irreversible anonymization if other information still identifies someone; contact us about remaining personal information.

In-app account deletion clears Private data on that device. Support-assisted deletion cannot remotely clear your other devices. Manage local Private copies, exports, photo-library copies and backups yourself. An ownership transfer or 30-day pause can let a Shared Dattle continue for other members. It does not preserve the departing user’s attributable content that the deletion policy requires us to remove.

A Premium user can explicitly create a passphrase-encrypted backup of Private definitions, rows and retained attachments. Dattle receives neither the backup file nor passphrase. A restore creates new local copies, not a cloud sync. Anyone with the file and passphrase can read it; Dattle cannot recover the passphrase. Manage retained copies at the destination you chose.

Android is configured to exclude app data from cloud backup/device transfer. On Apple devices, retained Private media is marked excluded from backup; encrypted records may remain in an Apple-managed backup/transfer, with a Dattle key configured not to transfer via Keychain restore. Private media uses complete device file protection; encrypted records use after-first-unlock protection. Platform behavior can change. Dattle cannot inspect or remotely erase platform backups. Uninstalling removes the installed app container, subject to these platform limitations.

A locally generated PDF story may be cached for sharing. The next time PDF sharing runs, the mobile app removes cached PDF stories older than 24 hours. Deletion is not guaranteed exactly 24 hours after creation. The operating system may clear cache sooner. User-saved copies remain under the destination's control.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent, information about disclosures, or review/appeal of a decision on your request. Some rights are conditional and lawful exceptions can apply. Where applicable, California and similar state laws also provide rights regarding sale/sharing, sensitive information and non-discrimination; our stated no-sale/no-cross-context-advertising practice does not remove other rights.

Email support@dattle.com or write to the contact above. You do not need a particular form or subject. We may ask for proportionate information to verify identity or authority and understand the request. Do not send passwords or sign-in codes. We respond without undue delay and within the period required by the law applicable to your request. An extension is used only where legally allowed, with the required explanation and notice.

You can use Settings for account deletion and available data/notification controls, or request deletion through the support route. Deletion is not conditional on canceling a subscription, and deletion itself does not cancel store billing. Device permissions, native optional telemetry choices, the web app analytics choice and the website cookie choice are separate controls.

You may complain to a competent privacy authority or use another available remedy. Depending on your circumstances this may include a Canadian federal/provincial authority (including Quebec's CAI), the UK ICO, the relevant EEA authority, Australia's OAIC, New Zealand's Privacy Commissioner, or the competent Mexican authority.

11. Security, children and updates

We use measures such as authentication, access controls, encryption and abuse prevention appropriate to the service. No system can guarantee absolute security. Shared cloud storage is not the same as Private device storage; recipient exports and lost devices have different controls.

Dattle is intended for adults meeting the eligibility requirement in the Terms. We do not knowingly collect information from people below that requirement. If you believe prohibited child information has been submitted, contact support so we can investigate and address it.

We will explain material changes, identify when they take effect, and provide legally required notice or choices before a relevant new use. A policy update is not a substitute for required consent.
